You can help prevent child abuse and neglect
The effects of child abuse and neglect can last a lifetime. Luckily, prevention is possible.
Child maltreatment is often associated with factors and conditions causing families to experience toxic levels of stress; including: lack of access to basic resources, housing instability, poverty, mental health issues and social isolation. Conversely, access to these concrete resources support parents in their role and enhance the quality of life of vulnerable children.
Prevention requires a focus on these protective factors that can reduce risks, build family capacity, foster resilience, and contributes to positive outcomes.
By becoming a Caring Neighbor, you join a committed group of neighbors passionate about lifting up families at a time when they need an extra hand, helping to assure access to basic needs and critical resources for children and families served by Child Protection or Child Welfare Services.
